It is with pride that Berlin International highlights the achievements of its educators outside of the campus. We are thereby delighted to announce that Prof. Karsten Huneck, head of the BA Architecture program and co-founder of the KHBT architecture studio, played a pivotal role in the creation of a remarkable suburban family home known as House ZdM9. Situated within the natural beauty of Frankfurt, Germany, this dwelling exemplifies a blend of luxury and nature.

Working in collaboration with the talented team at KHBT, including Alice D'Andrea and Bernd Truempler, Prof. Karsten Huneck has given life to a striking modern house overlooking a remote, nature-rich site along the banks of the River Main. This four-bedroom family home prominently features verdant-green views framed by panoramic glass-walled balconies, flood protection, a covered terrace adjoining an exercise lap pool, and a spacious basement floor fit for two cars and a guest suite.

Befitting the showcase of meticulous detailing: a carefully composed and unembellished facade and expansive, rough interior walls which texture the interplay of light and shadow. These qualities have earned House ZdM9 a place on the longlist for the prestigious German House of the Year Awards.
