On Tuesday, may 27th, 2025, students from the Lighting Design course led by Prof. von Starck at Berlin International’s BA Interior Architecture & Interior Design program stepped out of the classroom and into the future of lighting. Their destination: the ERCO showroom, home to one of the world’s leading specialists in architectural lighting.
Hosted by Veronika Monheim, Project Manager for Architecture at ERCO, the visit offered an inspiring afternoon filled with interactive learning, hands-on demonstrations, and valuable insights into cutting-edge LED technology.
ERCO’s commitment to sustainable lighting and its fusion of ecological responsibility with technological innovation gave students a real-world perspective on how lighting design can shape and elevate architectural spaces – both inside and out.
This excursion went far beyond theory. Students had the unique opportunity to experience contemporary lighting technologies firsthand, exploring various lighting fixtures, atmospheres, and design applications. For future architects and designers, such immersive exposure is key to understanding how light interacts with space, enhancing both form and function.
In a world where sustainability and innovation go hand in hand, this visit reinforced the importance of integrating conscious design choices with cutting-edge tools. A bright afternoon, indeed for both minds and spaces.
