We are happy to announce that Prof. Dr. Florian Artinger, Head of Program BA Digital Business & Management, and his colleagues have received a research grant of 350.000€ from the Independent Research Fund Denmark.

The project "Strengthening the recycled plastics value chain through addressing the roots of defensive decision-making" is an interdisciplinary project that combines the fields of operations research, behavioral sciences and material sciences. It is a collaboration between Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, Aalborg University, Goethe University Frankfurt and Simply Rational.

The project will investigate how uncertainties of technical, organizational, and contextual nature influence organizations’ perception of the opportunities and risks of becoming a part of the recycled plastics value chain, and how these perceptions guide their strategic decision behavior.

In particular, the project aims to explore the roots of defensive decision making. Prof. Dr. Florian Artinger and his colleagues want to develop design principles for organizations, value chains, and policymakers that can reduce overly cautious strategic decision-making behavior, especially with respect to the adoption of socially desirable sustainable technologies and materials.

The project will start in July 2022 and run for three years.

We congratulate our professor, and are looking forward to the valuable research findings!
